Ford cuts production of the Fiesta model

Ford will reduce production of the Fiesta hatchback at its plant in Cologne, Germany, in response to declining sales in the UK. The model is the best-selling car in England.

Ford will reduce Fiesta production to four days a week, as opposed to the five days it has had so far, which will affect 2,200 workers. It is expected that the reduction in production will continue until the end of the year, after which a second survey will take place in may and statistics will be summed up.

"Southern Europe and the UK are seeing weaker demand (for the Fiesta), which leads to the need to adjust production," a Ford spokesperson told Automotive News Europe.
Total new car sales in the UK fell by 7.3 percent in January, and economic uncertainty after Brexit is one of the factors behind this decline.

The factory in Cologne produces 1,150 Fiesta units a day, with one-third of this production coming to the UK.http://fiatforum.lv/http://fiatforum.lv/
